I am going to submit a proposal to at least talk about our community in a little more depth, and would welcome anyone who was interested in joining me! I’m probably going to talk about motivations, setup, growth, community engagement, and (raising) awareness.
… For the 2016 edition of LGM we continue speculating and will expand Libre Graphics into Other Dimensions. (…) We are also seeking contributions that offer reflections on the ‘other dimensions’ of open source communities and that engage with FLOSS tools in various contexts including but not limited to teaching, learning, practice and co-production. This represents a desire to address the future sustainability of the Libre Graphics movement, through a growth of the core projects and topics that will, we hope, allow us to welcome more and more FLOSS projects and participants to our community.
If you want to get up and speak with me, please let me know asap so I can add your name to the proposal!
If you want to give your own presentation or conduct a workshop (at LGM, vs. us meeting earlier), remember to submit it before January 10th!
If you have some images that you’d like me to use as part of the presentation, please let me know (or just send them to me). I’ll do my best to highlight works from the community during the presentation!
Side note:
If you’d like to present something, but still aren’t 100% sure you can make it out, go ahead and submit anyway! If you have to you can retract the submission, or I will be there and can deliver presentation on your behalf if you want.
Yeah, I’m bummed I didn’t get to Toronto last year when it was at least on the same continent as me.
I’m sorry to hear you won’t be able to make it! If you don’t mind I’m going to mention you + filmulator during my presentation about pixls in general (which means I might be poking you for some screenshots or info).
Sure. Perhaps I can prepare a bit of material for you to present, maybe do another video as the program evolves (becomes faster, gains new features perhaps).
Yes, I definitely want to submit a talk proposal and do all my best to be there! It could be that I’ll be travelling to London on the 15th and coming back on the 18th, because I have tight time constraints, so I’m afraid I’ll not be able to participate in a pre-meeting event
If all goes well, I’ll have my talk submitted by this evening (it was piling-up among all the things to do after the Christmas break). With the photoflow-as-gimp-plugin feature becoming usable at the time of writing (you can already select a RAW file in gimp, have it opened in photoflow, and then save the result of the processing into the background layer in 32-bits floating point format), there might be additional interest from the GIMP developers into the project.
I’ll try to ask for financial support directly to the LGM organisers, if the talk gets accepted, and keep you informed on how things evolve.
Excellent! I am also running a campaign to raise some funds to help with costs to attend. Even if you can’t make it to the pre-meeting event it’ll be fun to catch up!
@patdavid PhotoFlow talk proposal submitted, let’s wait for the outcome…
By the way, there seem to be no way to review the submitted proposal once the “submit” button has been pressed, as well as no e-mail confirmation. Is that normal?
I’ve not received anything yet… maybe I misspelled the email address during the submission procedure? Do you have some contact person I could send an email about that?
