Hello All,
since Sigmoid, I have ditched Filmic.
Now, each time I edit an image in darkroom, I have to deselect Filmic and select Sigmoid.
Is there a way to remove Filmic from defaulting?
Thanks for reading and advice,
-Gian
Disable filmic rgb, enable sigmoid and save those settings as an auto-applied style.
On the master version (not sure if the stable 4.2 version is the same), the better way is to set this via preferences:

Must correct myself. Need to wait for 4.4 for this settingā¦
thanks Kofa,
I had looked on that, but my 4.2.1 auto-apply pixel has only scene/display/none referred.

Iām using DT 4.2.1 and I donāt want Filmic RGB applied by default, so in Processing Preferences Iāve set the Pixel Workflow to ānoneā. In my opinion, some photos look better with Filmic, some with Sigmoid, and some are absolutely better without neither. Actively choose the most suitable modules for the case.
@GianLuca if you are using Windows then the weekly insider build of V4.3 would be worth using. It has nice little options like what you want for setting Sigmoid as default.
Terry,
thanks for your advice, but Iām on Linux.
Last time I booted a Windows box was 2007, I thinkā¦
You can also use a style or auto-applied presets, but those use fixed values for all parameters afaik. That works for me, but others may find it a disadvantage.
Workflow ānoneā wonāt activate filmic, as it wonāt activate anything but the strict minimum. So youāll have to add any module you want to use. Styles if you can live with no automatic adjustments, or a few more clicks if you want to keep those.
Or you can compile dt yourself. The next version might (should) arrive in june.
Then you can build it yourself. Iāve posted by build script several times, so you should be able to find it on the site.
Maybe try here⦠Install package graphics:darktable:master / darktable
Or another think you can do is set both filmic and sigmoid to settings that are āyourā defaults and then save them as autopresets⦠but save them as disabled. They will both be applied to every image with your defaults but not enabled. Then you can very easily toggle between the two to see what it offers the image and so decide which one is best⦠Or if you are set on one then you can just do that for the one tone mapper. I like to start and see the image without it but others might just simply want it on by default so for sigmoid you could save it as activated in your autopresetā¦
Thank you All,
is Master an Unstable version?
-G
Yes, it is. a development version
Itās not really unstable, per se: many of us have been using it on a daily basis for years. Glitches can occur, though.
