Resynthesizer3.0

I have not been able to find an updated version of Resynthezier 3.0, and just want to be sure this version will work with Gimp 3.0.6 before I install the plugin.
Thank you

There is one here: Release V3.0.0 for GIMP v3.0.0 · bootchk/resynthesizer · GitHub

If you’re getting it from your distro, its their job to ensure compatibility. If you’re using flatpak, it should just work.

I downloaded from Gimpchat:

Win64 binary

Resynthesizer3.0.zip

I just downloaded from the above that you sent.
Will try to install this one and not the other I told you about
Thank you

After unzipping the one you have shown there are many files.

The other I downloaded from Gimpchat there are only (2) directories and all videos that I have watched show how to install just those (2) only.

How do you install the one you show above?

Thank you

You should always give your operating system Windows (10 / 11 or…) / linux (and version) / Macos

Also Gimp version but we know you are looking at Gimp 3

The link you were given is to the code for compiling. No good unzipping and putting into your Gimp plugins folder.

For Windows, the one you downloaded from GimpChat is ok but it does not follow the preferred plugin installation method.

Get this zip.

There is a screenshot there for installation. Which is - unzip which gives four folders. Put the four folders in C:\Users"yourname"\AppData\Roaming\GIMP\3.0\plug-ins

For anyone using linux, it gets a bit more complicated. Flatpak Gimp 3 seems to have a flatpak resynthesizer package, I have a couple of sets for ubuntu 24.04 and 25.10 - just ask.

For debian and spin-offs, resynthesizer used to come with the gimp-registry-plugin package. Ancient, nothing there for Gimp 3.

I download the file “resynthesizer.zip”
Will give that a try when I’m able.
Thank you

I installed per the instrutions you sent, but how do I now access resynthesizer? I restarted Gimp, but I dont see the resynthesizer. If I go to Filters, Map, I see Resynthesizer, but says it needs to be installed.
Can you help me further?
Thank you

I was assuming you are using Windows, but I suppose it might come back to "What operating system are you using ? " (OS)

The 4 folders in the zip that go in your User Profile plugins folder are 3 .scm plugins that will work whatever OS. One is the plugin-resynth-controls.scm plugin that shows as Edit → Map → Resynthesize…
The fourth resynthesizer is a 64 bit compiled plugin that depends on your OS. For Windows there is that resynthesizer.exe but for say linux there is a different one specifically compiled for the OS.

…so…give us a clue as to what you are using.

Soory, im using windows 11
Thank you

Thank you, that helps. The files you downloaded in the zip should work.

If it helps this is a 2 minute video (no audio) Win11 / Gimp 3.0.6-1

It shows the 4 folders in the Gimp 3 user profile. Check that each folder contains the appropriate plugin.

Then the most used option heal-selection in the Gimp Filters → enhance menu.

It could be a Windows 11 security thing, resynthesizer.exe blocked for some reason. I can not help you with that one.

Ok. I put all 4 into the correct directory. After they are in there, do I need to open each one or just leave them “as is”? Seeing how to check each one and then use in the video might help.
Ill let you know how it works out.

Thank you again!

Windows usually unzips an archive without issue but it does no harm to check the contents of each folder after unzipping, just in case your Win11 installation mangles something. Otherwise it is “as-is”

As with all plugins, they are used from the Gimp menu structure.
Heal selection and heal transparency are in the Filters → Enhance menu.

The original use for Filters → Map → Resynthesize is making seamless tiles for repeating patterns. Not much used for that these days.

Seems to be working, just need some practice I guess.
Thank you
