I’m thinking about picking one of these up to play with. Does anyone happen to have any experience with them?
I often hand-hold a flash when I’m out and about, and while I do love the look of a 20" softbox, I hate the depth and awkwardness. This in theory seems like a nice compromise, but if anyone has tried it I’m all ears!

I actually used something similar when I was at a wedding a few years back. I didn’t pack any light gear other than a speedlight and my triggers. So I took the plastic liner out of the ice bucket in the hotel room, and added it to my flash in a similar way.
Ate so much light it was ridiculous, but let me get at least a little bigger apparent size…

No, not yet. I’m still considering it as an option, though. I guess I could go Bruce Gilden with it and just fire bare flashes at folks, but not really my style…
