RT: How to process IR photos from a modified camera?

Hi,

Camera: Nikon D800 converted by LifePixel to “deep IR”

So, this is not about “channel swapping”, false color stuff. Any useful signal I have is in the Red channel only.
Basically, I need to get the most out of the available data and get to a point where I take the images for further processing in external software.
With so many tools in RT I am at a loss. For example, shouldn’t I just get rid of the Green and Blue channels? Wouldn’t that mean “less noise”? If yes, what is the best way to do it? And what demosaicing method should I use? There’s “mono”. I don’t know what it does under the hood but I’ve noticed that it produces some weird artifacts. So, which of the methods would be best for me?
If there’s an article online that covers this exact stuff, kindly, point me to it. If not, I would like to get some basic instruction which tools to use.
*I know how to deal with the hot spots, so, no need to even address the topic.

Thanks!
