Runtime error prevents opening of RTP 4.2.905

Hi, I have been running RTP 4.2.905 successfully.

Then suddenly, from an hour ago, it won’t start and I get a message from the Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library, as follows.

“This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the application’s support team for more information.”

I have re-booted my PC and it made no difference. Like I say, it was running fine, and I didn’t change anything. Now it won’t start.

What can I do?

P.S. I have RTP installed onto a USB stick, and run it from there.

Morning!

RT 4.2.905 - must be Win 64-bit, right?
Download/install it again.

If it still does not work:
Have you got any special personal settings (presumably in
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\RawTherapee)?
Save them off somewhere, then delete that folder. Also
delete RT from your USB stick.
Download and install RT again.

Is RT the only application on that USB stick?
If so, reformat it first.

Thanks. I will try those suggestions, and let you know how it goes.

Provide a stack backtrace:

If you just want to get it running, deleting the “options” file and deleting the “cache” folder are the most likely things to get you back on track, but at the same time doing that is guaranteed to not get the problem detected or fixed and so you or others might run into it again. Provide a stack backtrace instead.

Hi all, deleting and reinstalling got it going again. Deleting the options file and cache folder didn’t.

I will consider installing debug and making a stack file if the issue turns chronic, but at this point it wasn’t really a crash, but a failure to start.

thanks again.
