Seestar S50 Mosaic Option

Hello, I just wanted to ask the developers and users how they deal with the new material from the seestar S50 in Siril? Currently ZWO has released a new firmware for the Seestar that can stack a mosaic internally and these fit files are also saved separately for further processing. Unfortunately, I noticed in Siril that the offset of the files in the mosaic is a real problem for Siril.
Out of 1000 files only about 30% are registered and even in the second pass as MAX you still lose some files. I wanted to register on a tip on the finished fit from the Seestar stack and even that increases it to a maximum of 60% of the complete fit files. Currently I can’t really find a workaround for this. Maybe there is a solution that I am overlooking.

Hello.

Next release will deal with these files with the introduction of the astrometric registration.

Wow, that would be a sensational feature if this worked.
Why is it actually a problem to register on the mosaic master fit from the seestar?
I had no luck with a starmask and it worked more bad than right with the luminance fit generated from the master fit.
It still lost around 40 percent of the fits when registering.
Is there an approximate plan when the next version will be released?
Best regards :+1:

Apologies first off as this may be posted in the wrong spot but at least in the right subject.

I had subframes from four mosaics from my Seesta S50 and wondered if I could put them all together. I found the preprocessing script DSA-Seestar_Mosaic_Preprocessing.ssf and used it

It ran but as you can see it ultimately failed.

Being still a novice at using Siril I was defeated for a while but looked at the tutorial Smart-telescope mosaic mode Siril which didn’t refer to the script but I did understand what it was planning to do. So I followed everything, creating a sequence, then using Plate Solver for registering. It ran but as you can see a similar failure.

At which point I nearly gave up but I continued to follow the tutorial as it appeared especially as the Astrometric registration had been completed. Rather show any more output suffice to say I applied the registration and then stacked the results and got a great output. I was thrilled. Granted I now see there are areas I need more data but that’s fine

So my question is, is the Finalizing sequence an issue with my data or just something in the code which isn’t working but ultimately isn’t necessary to complete the job. BTW I must say the tutorial was brilliant.

Have you not received a response? I am hoping to do the same with my Seestar mosaic data, but you don’t seem to be getting any help from Siril.

Is this out yet? Does it work well?

TIA,
Tom

Hello,
your message got a bit lost. I think we have fixed some stuff about finalizing astrometric registration. It will be in the next release. Do not hesitate to open a ticket on gitlab if that’s still there after next release: How to report issues — Siril 1.4.0-beta3 documentation

Cheers,

C.
