Background extraction can be performed on a sequence, however if the target is not being tracked, does the grid track the stars as they move from one image to the next? If not then would I need to extract separately for each image in the sequence?

If there is a comet and grid points have been removed, manually, will they also be removed in all subs so as to keep comet off the grid?
No. But as stated in the doc, only the polynomial first degree algorithm should be used for sequences. In that case there’s is no interest in removing samples.
