Mark just added to his blog. I can’t recall if Mark frequents pixls.us and many of you don’t do the FB thing so just incase you missed it …
They’re just called “styles.” DtStyles is a website that collects styles.
well that is the extension…files are often called by that
The big question is, do the styles, on the dtstyles website still work, considering darktable now uses a scene referred workflow by default and has many depreciated modules?
Apparently the styles that Mark has created, are for a scene referred workflow.
Mark is actually using 2 display referred modules but after filmic .
The previous styles I think often used the tone curve module and channel mixer or color lut module. There may have been elements in those that could still be applied but getting consistent results might be a challenge…even with Mark’s styles people may have considerably different ideas of exposure and filmic settings or even add other modules and so the result of adding Marks style might look somewhat different image to image unless used exactly as he uses it…
since darktable takes care of backward compatibility and won’t break older edits these old styles still work but in the limitations of the old and maybe deprecated modules.
So handle with care since you’re playing with a gun pointed to your feet ![]()
