Short question about import

I am using 5.2 and I am unsure what I need to do to get the following result. Viewing a beginners video for v5 it looks like I did something wrong.

I think this can be answered very easily what I have to do.

Image-file is not moved or copied anywhere, it should stay where it is. The image file should not be renamed.

Every directory is a filmroll.

What do I need to do, to avoid duplicate images or copy the source-files to another place?

It’s in the manual: darktable 4.8 user manual - import

If your image files are already stored on your hard disk, you just use the add to library button in the import module and select the folder you want to edit. Then you will see the thumbnail images in the lighttable view. (If the directory is large, it may take some time to generate the cache with the thumbnails.)

You can read more about import in the manual:

Thanks, I tried to be sure to do nothing wrong.

As already said the ‘add to library’ doesn’t duplicate images or move them it just lets DT know where they are. However, the ‘copy and import’ option can be a great feature to copy images from your camera’s SD card and organize them in the way you want to on your computer. Again the manual covers this well.
