simplified darktable workflow, v2

Thanks to everyone who gave me feedback, I spent a lot of time today creating a new version of my darktable workflow. I am really happy with it. Of course, I am still open to any feedback and love to learn and improve.

Here is the new tutorial for anyone who is interested!

I had a quick look at various parts, the explanations look really clear and easy to understand.

That’s great news!! Thank you so much for checking it out.

Very clear and helpful. I wish it was possible to set default presets in the collections module.

I’ve so far only seen the first couple of minutes, so cannot give a general comment.
However, in the start you recommend users to set the flag preferences > processing > use all GPU memory.
Even though you qualify this by saying it is provided the user only uses darktable, from previous discussions in this forum I’m anyhow not sure that is a good advice to new users. You may have interest of i.a. this:

In my experience on Fedora 41 with Radeon RX 6600 and self built DT using all GPU memory caused DT crashes. Not recommended.

Interesting. I did find that it personally increased performance in my case. I will see if I can remove that specific portion somehow…but I don’t know if that’s possible. I can at least edit it with a text overlay so that I keep the other recommendations while not recommending that one.

I think results of using all GPU memory may depend on many factors: OS, OpenCL implementation, GPU memory size, raw files size, DT modules in use…

All memory was removed from the GUI on the current master (therefore in 5.2).

I’m so glad to hear that. And just an update to everyone, I did my best to blur out and remove the recommendation for the GPU usage.
