Tried to stack a multisession and had problems. One issue resolved by changing the Fits setting in preferences, the only error showing now is
***(siril.exe:32032): GLib-GIO-WARNING **: 20:50:08.354: Unexpectedly, UWP app Microsoft.ZuneVideo_10.21012.10511.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe' (AUMId Microsoft.ZuneVideo_8wekyb3d8bbwe!Microsoft.ZuneVideo’) supports 33 extensions but has no verbs
any ideas
The problem is in Sirillic, I am stacking two sets of lights in multi session with intermediate stacking. The programme aborts three quarters the way through stacking. The only highlighted issue in the log is the one posted above. I did have issues with files not being read but changing the preference to the multiple fits setting seems to have solved that.
Ialso see that the high and low settings in rejection are not saving if moving from one stack to another, the defaults restore themselves.
If the program aborts during stacking, it’s probably because it has run out of memory. Are you using the computer during stacking, like web browsing? Siril reserves itself some memory at the start of stacking, if the memory is used by something else in the mean time it’s a problem.
Thanks for the suggestions. The problem could be that I am stacking a set of 40s and a stack of 10s images to give me two aligned but separate stacks for a layered M42 composition, and the intermediate stacking command doesn’t like it. Or the fact it worked without it could be coincidence.
OK got it to work, switched everything else off (including some background garbage), at first the same issue, but Windows File Explorer had crashed, restarted it reloaded and it worked. Thankyou everyone.
When i use multisession without intermediate stacking ticked will the programme be able to merge any combination, eg. stacks taken on different days with different sub lengths?
the multi-session is to be used only with identical exposure times.
For different exposure times, you have to stack separately and assemble in photoshop or Gimp.
What did you expect with a stacking of different exposure? If you did expect a kind of HDR, for sure stacking will never do it.
Stacking is just a mean. Following your reference image, the mean will be based upon clipped or unclipped pixels. But that’s all.
I didn’t ‘expect’ anything, I was just trying to get the software to work and gave the link to the image to show you could stack different sub lengths. I didn’t actually expect sirillic to be able to merge the two stacks. My intention was to use a layering technique with separate processed stacks, which I did after running Sirillic succesfully. The two images were posted as a comparison. Whether something is good or not is largely subjective.
I made two stacks, one of 10s and one of 40s and then processed both in StarTools, then used the Layers module to blend, again in StarTools. The stacks were slightly offset but the alignment tool in Layers manoeuvered them into place.
