Hi everyone,
In general I would like the tags that I assign in digiKam to be written to the image files/sidecar files.
Is it possible to exclude certain tags from this writing process, because for certain reasons these tags should not be in the images but only in the database?
Private tags (as opposed to public or published) are options in Photo Supreme link
Note: although I am currently a Photo Supreme user I have no business interest in that or any other DAM.
I registered here because I am looking for an alternative and so I found digiKam. It is odd that my first reply is about something that is available in PSU and not in digiKam…
It’s a feature I also would have use for and already thought about in the past.
Do you know how difficult it would be to implement this in digikam? Is it worth a feature request?
Hi @Michmill
thanks for your feedback and thanks to all the others for your interest in this topic.
I’m in exactly the same situation as @Manusz. I also know this feature from PSU and have used it there for organizational tags that have absolutely no use for other viewers of my images or for tags that should not be visible for privacy reasons.
I’m still fairly new to digiKam and I am still familiarizing myself with the feature set digicam provides. I certainly will have to adapt my workflow in some places, but it seems that there are solutions for almost all my issues which will work well, at least for me.
“Private tags” is pretty much the only issue for which I have not yet been able to find an adequate solution.
I would very much appreciate it if such a function could be implemented in digiKam, provided that the effort is reasonable.
Hi @roki,
I suggest opening a wish request in the digiKam BugZilla. One of the other devs who is more familiar with the metadata engine may have some ideas.
