Song Vĩnh Church, Phu My, Vietnam

Got to stop by the Song Vĩnh Church and take a couple photos on the way down to the beach in Vũng Tàu. I had all of thirty seconds for photos before the daily monsoonal rains began. Looking forward to seeing your interpretations.

I love travelling in Vietnam. I haven’t been to Phy My yet, but maybe one day. I wanted to bring out the stormy cloud look so I experimented with a parametric mask to select the sky. It was an interesting exercise using the Cz channel to select for chroma and then using the mask opacity slider to get a reasonable selection around the building and trees. For my first attempt I am not unhappy with the selection. I got the idea from @kofa in a previous discussion about selections.

Beautiful architecture!
Had some trouble with WB and finally decided to use the (hopefully) white sculpture above the central entrance portal as a reference.
Only partial perspective correction because in my eyes it looks wrong when vertical lines don’t converge when looking upwards.

I agree that at times this is true. I took the lazy and incorrect approach and did a full correction in my edit but I do agree that some vertical perspective is appropriate for this image.

In fact, the towers look like they are toppling over when completely straightened. The slight horror.

Yes, I tried that and it looked so goofy I abandoned it. I just did a slight horizontal correction.
