Just a short post to describe how I have overcome the awful colours initially presented when opening raw files from my A7IV, without (yet) owning a colour checker.

downloaded the file
-
converted it to DNG because it was compressed

Cropped the image (i know, it’s not central…)

Calibrated against the colour checker, FYI the expected vs actual colours were way off.

Save the calibrated Color Calibration as a preset to be applied to all my raws
The result is certainly good enough for me, an enthusiast family photographer. Also having seen the great result of my fairly bodged attempt, I should go buy a colour checker…
