Yes! The B&W hits the spot. Thanks @sls141 for the take and @bug2k19 for sharing the king.
Minimalist take.
Workflow
PhotoFlow: blend HL, RCD, lens corr
G’MIC: resize, afre_darksky
x3, afre_brightness
x7, afre_localcontrast
x5 and afre_crop
.
G’MIC Notes
1 Since I often repeat my commands, I may add this as a feature.
2 afre_brightness
Using another method but it may be available soon.
3 afre_localcontrast
Different again, using several scales. May add.
4 afre_crop
I have multiple versions of this. None of them are available yet.
I guess dog kings can be dreamy too.
I am not usually into dog pictures, but this one is really nice!
RT
- Basics and dynamic range compression
Gimp
- Warming up the ground and adjusting contrast
- Cooling down the sky and adjusting contrast
- Lighting the face and especially the left eye
Wow, some really nice versions! I’m always impressed how others can come up with a look I hadn’t thought of, being able to see how each was created good to be able to learn from.
@gadolf Thanks for the kind words. Because of the short focal length, the head and chest are in an almost caricature proportion to the rest of the body. If I had a grasp on how the liquify module worked, i would like to further exaggerate this and then look to Gimp/G’mic to make it somewhat cartoon-like. Just a thought.
@gadolf I followed up on what I had in mind.
Using the warp transform tool in Gimp and G’mic/Artistic/Illustration Look at default settings.
That’s cool, a really distinct look! Thanks.
You’re welcome. Thanks for the kind words! A while back. a good friend had a dog that yours really reminds me of. In a way, this was a tribute to her as well!
Thanks for the heads up, @sls141. Nice work!
I saved the sidecar file from the first, less exaggerated version.
I want to study it better.
Usually, I’m not prone to such effects, but the one you got might be interesting in some occasions, and indeed made this nice image even more interesting.
If I use it, I’ll credit as the @sls141 filter
Good fun! Looking forward to more adventurous takes in your future PlayRaws.
