Sparrowhawk in shadow and light

Here is a picture of a sparrowhawk. I am really eager to see how you are interpreting it.
Thanks in advance for your time and passion.

My Take using dt 5.2.1 only

Tricky, without a fair amount of manipulation the edges of the bird are going to disappear into the background.

Anyway, here is my attempt in DT 5.3 master

@Matthias_Hartmann Welcome! That’s a beautiful shot!

It is a great image to start with. I didn’t change much.

Here was my go. I am on an uncalibrated laptop, so I dont trust my color is right. Used dt 5.2.1

Great shot, I could play with it all day.

Edited with DT 5.0 +332, using Sigmoid. You’ll have to reset Demosaic if you want to investigate the edit.

Thought about cropping but then said, nah. lol

After some enhancements in DT, opened result in the GIMP and then Cloned/healed some distractions and pushed saturation using G’MIC’s Dehaze preset. :slight_smile:

Forgot to add that I created 3 total layers, set top layer to darken and set middle layer to overlay and dupped to taste to darken the background. :slight_smile:

ART with AgX:

My try. After setting the exposure around the bird, the rest was working with AgX. Finished with CE and D&S module and CB to improve the overall brilliance and push the color of the bird a tad towards the brown side.

Is there a prey in its claws?
