Stereoscopic Conversion

Hey, I just learned this software existed, and I’m curious about a subject.
I want to try out stereoconversion on movie clips, and I’m wondering, can I make depth maps of live video with Natron, and enhance the video with rotoshapes?

In Jurassic Park 3d, and Terminator 2 3d among other things, Rotoshapes were used in tandem with Depth Maps, I think.
Is it possible to do something similar to this in Natron?

Natron has stereoscopic compositing capabilities (see doc), but doesn’t have any 2D-to-3D conversion algorithms builtin.

I’m researching depth mapping for myself.
What I’m curious about is if I used a depth map that was generated from an alternative software, if I could use that for stereoscopic conversion.

The other thing I was interested in was rotoshapes enhancing the depth map.
In the video I shared it shows two aspects of the depth map.
From Jurassic Park 3d, it demonstrates rotoshapes and a depthmap.
Is there anyway to use rotoshapes in Nuke for the same effect?
Or do those rotoshapes need to be generated prior to a depth map?

There is a multitude of 3rd party apps on github that are open source I can use to produce a depth map.
It would be nice to see them integrated in Natron, but If I generate the depth map seperately, will it work?
