As I know HDR is getting trendy in all imaging-domains including photography, I think this is important to share Steve’s recent argumentation on that topic.
He is dismantling the format with razor sharp precision while offering a lot of insights on why it has become such a mess.

I won’t be putting a tldr because I think the whole video context is important but if you are a really busy person you can jump to the “Checklist Recap” chapter.

I found the link too awkward to view, BUT I’ve never been happy with the concept of crushing a high dynamic range scene into a 6 EV or so print or LCD display.

That turned out to be an inscrutable table that jumped around like a blue-arsed fly.

I’m too old …
