Sunrise landscape in southern Arizona

Probably the most beautiful sunrise I’ve experienced. Enjoy editing! Let me know if you have any suggestions prior to shooting the photo or to my own edit.

What made it so beautiful in your eyes?

Hey @Lix and welcome to the community. It is customary to post your sidecar file on a play raw, so that others can learn from your edit. If you used something like GIMP or Krita, please detail a bit of what you did.

Also please apply some compression to your output.

Have a great time!

Thank you for the friendly welcome and for the help!

I can’t provide a sidecar file because I used my own software to process this. But it’s pretty basic: Increased contrast, slightly increased saturation and zero white balancing.

Interesting, is it FOSS?

No, it’s just a private toy project for me to experiment with tone mapping. But I might publish the result at some point if it seems useful enough.

if you ever go FOSS we can probably provide you a forum spot

Thanks for sharing your edit

This was captured the moment the sun broke through the clouds. Loved the reflection off the water in combination with the contrasting shoreline.

My play in GIMP (after installing XnConvert to open the raw).
I have attempted to give a slight emphasis to the misty mountains. Also a small increase in colours while, hopefully, keeping a fairly cool rendition.
