Sunset in the Cies islands (Solpor nas Illas Cies).

How would you deal with this image?? I would like to see (and learn!).

Great sunset! darktable master with filmic v6. I don’t see a point in sharpening pictures like this, it completely breaks the atmosphere and distracts the eye into the water. I think this picture should be a soft experience for the eyes, sort of like being there yourself.
My crop ratio is a bit messed up, but I didn’t want to cut a lot of the sky out, or make it too tall.

A wonderful photograph, thank you for sharing.
My not very successful attempt in GIMP. I wished to keep the grass in the foreground to give depth to the image, but reduce its visual impact. Other than that, slight changes to contrast and saturation.

A beautiful scene, thank you for sharing! I went a little along @hatsnp s idea of keeping the softness and showing a lot of the sky. It took a bit to get the balance to feel right and get rid of the distracting wave in the bottom right corner. dt 3.8

My approach. Had a bit of trouble with the blown out center.

Thanks for your version.
I can’t use your .xmp file. Could it be because you are using the master version?

I think so, I’ll take a look after work to see if I can get it running in the release version.

I like the glow at the center here, looks really good.

Quick 'n dirty try with dt 3.8 (filmic v5):

There’s actually only a small area that’s blown in red and green channels (switch off the white balance module to see that), so I didn’t use the highlight reconstruction module (it works after the whitebalance module, so sees a large “clipped” area, causing more trouble than it solves). Then carefully use filmic’s recovery tab with a few iterations to get some texture in the brightest part.
