Much smaller :motor_boat:

I thought that the water in the foreground was pulling the attention away from the sky and the back-lit lighthouse. Hence the crop. RT 5.8.

I think the most interesting thing about this example is the fact that we feel differently about the composition. Apparently a few people have a problem with the empty area in the sky.

Maybe it’s because it’s just a flat area that doesn’t add much to the composition?

correct. I like your croppings, btw. But probably you see that some have just cropped away that area, creating bad proportions between sky and sea. The sky almost always needs to be significantly larger than the water or the ground. So if you crop away the empty clouds, you also need to remove a part of the sea at the bottom. Anyway that’s how I feel it. And that’s what you did. But my experience is that composition is subjective and I often change my mind about my own compositons.
But in this case I personally am not so annoyed about the emptiness of the clouds. It’s more or less how it looks in reality. Of course it would be better if that part of the picture had more structure but that’s how it is.
