Hi,
DDS is a common file type for those who are working with gaming textures. The current Gimp plugin doesn’t support DDS with newer BC7 compression, which is going to be massively used (especially by Skyrim modders, just saying). It should be great to upgrade this plugin for DDS with BC7 compression (with read and write operations, including mipmaps).

This has come up before as a request to the developers
I suppose they need someone interested in developing the plugin.

For what it’s worth, I have updating DDS support on my post-2.99.16 to-do list (along with DICOM and finishing the MyPaint Brushes version 2 code). If someone wants to beat me to it though, that’d also be great!
