Support for more Canon RF lenses

I own some RF lenses that are not yet supported by Darktable, and I’d like to know what I could do to help add support for them.

Namely, I own:

  • Canon RF 28-70mm f2.0
  • Canon RF 50mm f1.2
  • Canon RF 85mm f1.2

Thanks!

It seems like all three lenses already have full support in Lensfun, see lensfun/data/db/mil-canon.xml at master · lensfun/lensfun · GitHub

Which OS do you use? Where is your lensfun directory in your computer?

I use Ubuntu 24.04.

Indeed, I do have a lensfun directory on my machine, in /usr/share/lensfun, and contains a canon related file.

Looking at the contents of /usr/share/lensfun/version_1/mil-canon.xml though, it does not contain support for the above three lenses. But this is probably related to the package distribution of Ubuntu

Run lensfun-update-data from terminal

Hey, thanks a lot for that info! I was missing the package liblensfun-bin from my system, but after installing it I got access to the lensfun-update-data command. Running it updated the list and can now see the aforementioned lenses in Darktable lens correction module

Thank you so much to everyone for all your useful info!
