Just did some testing with Siril 1.0.0 in Win10 developers mode. Symbolic links are created for FITS file in directory process but not for TIFF. Is this not possible?

No.
FITS is the standard used by Siril internally (for sequences, and everything else). That’s why it’s possible to make FITS symlinks. But for all other formats, conversion is necessary.
