I upgraded to the latest nightly build and it is not able to read my previous tags. Is there a way to regenerate it from xmps files? What’s wrong?
My tags still work and I have the latest nightly 5.5.1063 on macOS.

If you have a reproducible bug, then you should report it in GitHub with all of the background information, steps to reproduce and what you are seeing.
if I remove pics and again add to library the tags appear so is there a method to re create the tags from xmp files
You may be able to reread the sidecars by using the import module, with “add to library”. For existing images, according to the manual, this rereads the sidecar files, without adding or removing images from the database (so it won’t create copies in any way).
