Tethering with an Olympus OMD E-M5II and Darktable 4.4.2

is it possible to tether with this camera??
I did something that I rarely do, reading the manual.
section 4.4 troubleshooting is your camera detected?

env LANG=C gphoto2 --auto-detect
camera is detected as:
Olympus E-M1 usb:005,044

env LANG=C gphoto2 --port usb: --abilities

Serial port support : no
USB support : yes
Capture choices :

File upload support : yes

actually does tethering work via the gphoto cli. testing with that would be a good idea. also please mention which gphoto version you have there.

gphoto2 2.5.23-1.1 Thethering does not work via command line

Thanks. Then the Olympus OMD E-M5II is likely also not supported. Good to know

I just tried it with my E-M1 II and DT 4.4.2 and it worked. Before going to the tethering screen from the Other menu in the upper right, it is necessary to first go to the Import section in the upper left and click Mount for the camera, otherwise the error “no camera with tethering support available for use…” will appear.

gphoto2 2.5.23 is an old version - I am using the latest.

There was a bug in libgphoto2 that would cause a crash when running “gphoto2 --summary” with the Olympus attached - it’s now fixed in libgphoto2 2.5.31. This bug had prevented entangle from working with the camera; I don’t know if it affected darktable.

so getting a newer version of your distro might help (in the hopes that it has the latest gphoto)
