A huge thank you to the developers and helpers, and especially to @Kofa for implementing AgX.
With AgX, my photo editing effort has been reduced by at least 90%. It’s simply fantastic, like magic.

Thank you, but please understand that what I did is nothing compared to what the core developers do. There’s is deep, innovative work, maybe much less visible, but way more difficult and important than yet another tone mapper (which I only ported, did not invent). I’m glad you are happy with AgX, but I find the praise embarrassing (not the praise itself, but rather how the much greater efforts of others get way less attention, even though they do all the work that makes everything else possible, and how they guide newcomers like me).
Thanks @Eary_Chow too, who not only did the original work, but also showed up here to answer more questions, discuss things, and generally be helpful.
And I do support this ‘thank you’ for the whole - often far less visible - team.
I too am very happy with darktable and the developments I profit so much from.
I have expressed this a couple of times but will continue to do so:
I have much more joy since using darktable than I had before using other software and I think I produce more beautiful photo’s with it then before.
Kind regards, Jetze
I second this. Darktable is fun. Much of the commercial software is just a black box or cookie cutting machine. @Eary_Chow thanks for your original work with AgX and thanks @kofa for porting it to darktable. Thanks also to the whole development team that keeps this project going at a phenomenal rate of development.
AgX has made my editing so much easier. I am still learning it and will have questions in time about how best to use it but learning is part of the fun journey I have with DT.
+1K to this.
I re-discovered darktable just 3 or 4 months ago, after a long time of photographic abstinence, and it played a huge role in reigniting my passion for the craft.
Every day I learn something new and I can’t get enough of it.
The team is excellent, and the pace of progress is impressive considering the limited resources available. Thank you all for your hard work ![]()
Also, thanks to @Qor for starting this thread. Sometimes our questions, comments or suggestions may come through as complaints. A public display of gratitude can go a long way towards clearing up any misunderstanding: we are here because we love this tool, we want it to keep getting better and we have the greatest respect for those who put in the effort.
Last but not least, thanks to pixls.us and the moderators for hosting and shepherding this nice and welcoming community.
Cheers to y’all!
You seem to not tire pointing out the contributions of the whole team when being thanked for your contribution and I find that admirable.
So (unfortunately for you), I have to add “making the less visible, deep, innovative work of the dt core team more visible” to the list of commendable efforts and also thank you for that.
