I recently purchased a printer, but when I wanted to print there wasn’t a print tab in the dropdown in darktable
Operating system?
None for Windows… I think GIMP or PictureWindow Pro 8 are good choices if you are on Windows…
My experience with printing from various programs is that using the printer manufacturer’s own software usually gives very reliable results while using editing software options can sometimes provide headaches due to issues like color profiles. So with my Canon printer I open the image in the canon printers software and all is easy for me on a windows computer.
BTW, my old but very good HP photo printer no longer has supporting windows drivers and I have connected it to a linux mint computer and it works fine.
I haven’t printed anything in years but I am sort of itching to get a printer and play a bit… PWP8 has a neat feature to create monitor curves to help correct the image to the output in addition to color management…
I print a lot with QImage Ultimate under Windows. Development in dt and export as jpeg or tiff. Qimage has lots of options, color management, very good sharpening algorithms for printing and is actively developped.
