Will see how long it will take to update our package, but here are the highlights of the release:
Update deployed. If you see anything broken please ping in this thread.
We’ll be reviewing our plugins and settings, so there might be some UI changes. Brace yourselves!
the Grey Amber theme got disabled as it was super slow.
Please use Default Dark as alternative.
A lot has to go wrong for a theme to cause slowness, especially in web… I’m curious programming wise how the discourse team got themselves into this predicament Gonna look at their project page/repo
It would be nice if this FOSS forum software worked properly with popular FOSS browser: Pale Moon. But I gather that it never has, so I’m not holding my breath. In fact it doesn’t work at all without some small hack implemented in uBlock Origin)
(Just saying… of course I know that this is a Discourse thing, not a Pixls.us thing. Doesn’t stop me loving this wonderful forum)
TBH: an up2date mozilla based browser is supported. so the question is how far pale moon lags behind.
Probably a thorny subject, and the bottom line is that I use Pale Moon mostly because of the way that it looks and works. That’s personal choice, each to their own.
I get more thorny if I say I left Firefox/mozilla behind long ago because it didn’t, and I never wanted to join the Chrome camp.
(There are some things that are actually browser-specific apps: I use them, so I cannot and do not have a chrome-free machine.)
But specifically, pale moon lags behind, for me in that just one or two sites, apart from apps just mentioned, don’t work properly. So I can’t see that it would be lagging much.
OK, so I can’t resist a [/i]little[/i] web-political swipe, and then I’ll shut up about which the issue. Google is the new Microsoft, Chrome is the new Internet Explorer.
I draw the line at that. But it is not a hard line, and I do not have a google-free computer or phone.
