This playraw is to go along with a post in the main forum about clipped/over-saturated fringing/highlight reconstruction.
Art-wise, go nuts :). One of the most-interesting decisions is whether to preserve the orange-hued sodium lighting of the ski-area’s lights or choose a white-balance that makes the snow white.
Image from a 5DSR with a 50mm f/1.4 USM wide-open at 1.4. Go go gadget purple-fringing :).
Two very crappy quick edits… Lighting could be much different as you suggest with the snow and how you treat the headlamps… I liked the cleaner look of whiter snow… One is a little lighter and one is darker… I guess you could even go for more of a dark night look…
This is one of those pictures where I have absolutely no idea if I made something nice or something meh. Definitely a tough one. Here’s my attempts. Went for neutral color in one and an orangey dark feel in the other. Added exposure around the people, I felt it gave them more focus and gave the feeling they’re exploring the dark.
