I rather like that!

Thank you!

I didn’t know Thomas Kinkade either… :face_with_peeking_eye: but after a quick look, I think I’ve seen his work. It’s a bit toy-like in some ways isn’t it? Very nice, but not life-like.

Maybe a course of artistic education wouldn’t go amiss (for me I mean!)

Yeah, I agree. I have no problem with his work but to me it’s definitely storybook, tinsel and gingerbread, if that makes sense.

Long lived playraw…
I was more impressed by the scene in the flat raw than most of the renderings above. The subtle quiet dusky feel was great in the actual capture, you can almost feel the air. This imho was lost in most edits that turned into high drama. I wimped out and added more chroma and contrast than I intended.

Thank you @nosle . I decided to make a re-do with less dramatic changes to the original. dt 4.4.2

Well, it took me only about ten months to do this one…

I tried to add (even more) atmosphere with a bit of hazy diffused light from the right. I also cooled down the left hand clouds in an attempt to make them recede a bit. Also added a little sharpening and LC to the very bottom / (perspective) near foreground to make it approach a bit. LIghtened up the road just a tiny bit to make that balancing diagonal a little more visible. 16x9 crop to emphasize the wide-open feel.

Successful?

It is! And you have a definite point there - it looks pretty good like that. I can’t decide whether I prefer yours or @Tim’s new version actually - both capture that muted yet atmospheric feel.

Yes! It’s great. Nearer the other end of the scale from the last two, makes an interesting comparison… it’s amazing how many different variations you can get on one shot. (I know, I know I’ve said that before…

I think it is a good image to try out color balancing using the various tools, color calibration, rgb primaries, and color balance rgb. After five different edits, I have still not achieved a look I really like. I have been watching some movies, getting my eyes opened to what can be done. I am only part-way through “Woman In Gold,” and I am fascinated with all the color schemes they have used. I see I have a long way to go, a lot to learn.

What a shot, good reminder to take your camera everywhere and that its worth pulling over sometimes!

Definitely needs to stay on the low key side, imo.
