Despite appearing to have tooltips enabled they have disappeared for me a long time ago. If I use shift T a brief popup tells me tool tips is on or off. I am try the nightly build of DT5.7 +443 and would find tool tips helpful as I try and learn the new contrast and texture module. Any ideas what might be wrong in my setup? Windows 11. Thanks to those who can help out.
Funnily enough I too created a post about this earlier today. In my case, I need to turn the tooltips on, then restart darktable, for them to work.
Did you try that?
Nonetheless, this seems like a bug to me.

I think the the tooltip shown in the thumbnail overlays dropdown is specific to the lighttable. If on, it shows for each thumbnail. I have that information shown anyway, so just glad I can turn that off!
That worked. I was sure I had tried this on multiple occasions before without success, but today they are back. It does seem strange behavior regardless.
