Topic Slow Mode

The topic in PlayRaw https://discuss.pixls.us/t/clouds-again/44922 “Clouds Again …” appears to still be in ‘Slow Mode’ … is this intentional?

When will it be back?

Did you see my reply? Clouds again... - #55 by paperdigits

Yes.

It said “I am sad that this mechanism has failed.”

What is “this mechanism”? Is it a Site issue? I am not being deliberately obtuse, just wondering how long the topic will be in Slow Mode.

“This mechanism” was me putting that thread into slow mode in hopes it would stop off topic replies on that thread. It is a play_raw thread, we should be talking about processing the image, not critiquing settings or offering raw histograms.

By making it so you could only post once a day, I had hoped you would have asked yourself “should I post this” and then arrived at the conclusion “this isn’t really on topic, so I won’t post it.” But you did not end up at that conclusion, so putting the topic in slow mode did not produce the desired result.

This is not a site issue. “Slow mode” was enacted by me.

The fact that you’re eager to get back to posting to that thread tells me I should probably close it, but I feel like that would be unfair to the person who opened the thread looking to have people share edits of their image.

I want to try another edit of the original image, without technical comment. I have said this at least twice recently.

Are you going to withdraw the Slow Mode or not?

I dont think he should. Just wait until tomorrow.

Why don’t you think he should?

[edit] @g-man , forget it, please.

Because you and a few other people keep going way off topic with this raw historgram stuff. Even though you’ve been asked to stop.

Slow mode is on for two weeks and I don’t think I’m going to remove it. You can post once every 24 hours, so don’t waste the post talking about fastrawviewer settings.

How many times do I have to say that I want to post an edit without technical comment? !

I find your response quite insulting and I will certainly not post while Slow Mode is on.

'bye.

Yes and it is frustrating when I try to steer the conversation back on topic, but me and others are ignored and you keep doing whatever you want. So then I have to take more drastic measures.

I’d like to not have to take those measures.

I kept doing what I wanted - please note the past tense. Since then I have recanted “underexposed”, some histogram settings, and tried to get out of the histogram subdiscussion with @reffort1

You don’t have to take those measures. Following my misunderstanding of play_raw I fully intend to do better and I believe that you are continuing your campaign just to save face and to teach me a lesson (that I have already learned).

I will post in the said topic in my own good time and not when you say I can.

I leave the coveted Last Word to you. No doubt it will be another winner.

Thank you.

Save face on what exactly?

I don’t ever try and teach anyone a lesson. Everyone is a grown adult here. I always try and do what is best for the community at large here. I’m sorry if you feel differently and I understand what it feels like when you feel like you’re the target. I can assure you that you’re not the target.

That is your decision but doesn’t change anything on this end.

This is uncalled for and I won’t tolerate it any further.

I seriously got to wonder … you already got a warning in a different thread. What makes you think that this kind of behavior is a good idea? Do you need a timeout to calm yourself down a bit?

2 weeks to calm down.

I’d much rather we check with the original poster before we go about critiquing things; I think giving a critique of someone’s work/technique unless explicitly asked is in bad form. I don’t mean this as a set-in-stone rule, nor do I really want to codify this into a rule, but rather, put yourself into the shoes of the person posting-- posting something is an act of vulnerability and I think we should respect it.

You are right, of course. I did not see analysis of exposure as a ‘critique’ (it’s not an question of artistic ability, sense or taste), but asking for permission is surely the correct and polite thing to do.

Indeed. Sorry I already quoted you before you removed your post, I can remove mine if you want (or at least remove the quote from you)
