Anyone have a third-party battery vendor they trust?
I’m looking for spare BLN-1 batteries for my OM-D E–M1 (Mark I.) Olympus is out of stock, probably permanently, and all the replacement batteries I can find online have at least a few bad reviews–mostly premature failures (in some cases non-functional batteries delivered), but a few “interferes with camera operation” problems.
I have used third party batteries in my D7100 since I first bought it and both the original and the 3rd party are still going strong. I have two Enegon batteries for my Canon R7. They came with a USB twin charger which I prefer over my Canon’s mains charger. They are performing very well. I have done over 1000 images in a single shoot with these batteries and didn’t need changing.
I usually go with Patona’s premium (green) or protect (gold) batteries.
Avoid unknown Chinese brands that may be suspiciously cheap; otherwise you should be OK. Depending on your location and accessibility, Patona, Jupio, Wasabi, Newell etc should be all right.
FWIW, I usually go to my trusty brick & mortar camera store for these things, they don’t sell crap and I am happy to pay the slight premium. FWIW, I just checked and for BLN-1 they carry Newell.
I have found duracell reliable and use them for a number of camera backup batteries and charging devices
I tended to use an Olympus om1/2/4 , for about 25 years but that was the analogue camera; didn’t need to worry about equipment mind you it probably showed, some rangefinder and medium format dabbling
I haven’t used the digital ones but I am coming around to the APSC argument
Thanks. I only have two “local” photography shops, and neither of them carry the battery I want. I’ve ordered direct from Wasabi Power; at least they offer a three-year warranty.
