Unsupported feature in file

I was sent this file, which I tried to load in DT.

It tells me that there is an unsupported feature in the file, and also and unsupported was detected.

If I run a file command on the file, it tells me that it is ISO Media.

Anyone got any clues as why I am getting this, and what I can do about it? I am running DT 5.4.1

I am on Windows 11 DT 5.4.1 and this image opened with no error message for me.

It depends on how exactly your copy of dt was built/distributed (you don’t even mention your OS, let alone how you installed dt), specifically with what version of LibRaw. You can check by running darktable --version. Canon EOS R5 Mark II support is not available in LibRaw 0.21.x.

Regulars here will know that openSUSE Tumbleweed user, DT was installed from their repositories.

Currently, the version of libRaw on Tumbleweed is 0.21.4, no update is available in any of their repositories.

Opens fine here. darktable 5.4.1 from the Archlinux repos.

Edit:

Seems to be normal.

I think I can be considered a regular here, but I don’t keep track of which OS/distribution everyone is using (nor am I planning to)…

You could try the appimage available from the darktable install page?

Yep, that fixes the problem.

I’ll keep an eye out for when libraw gets updated in the openSUSE repositories.

Note that dt will also have to be rebuilt against that new version, a runtime update is not sufficient. (Should happen anyway if the repo maintainers are decent.)

No problem on Fedora 43. Nice photo, BTW, is it Venezia?

Not my photo (Canon rather than Nikon should be a clue, also why I needed help), but yes, it is Venice.
