Updating siril to new version

Hello!

I am new and using siril now for a coupe of times. I was still using 1.2.4, but I now see we are already in 1.2.6 (and even a beta releasing).
When I press the ‘Check for update’ button in Siril, it still says that it is up to date. Can i update the program, without needing to do a fresh 1.2.6 install?

Regards, Tomas

download the new version and install it.

Thank you for the reply, I will do that. So every time there is a new version you need a fresh install?

Yes, indeed.

Tring to install 1.4.0 Beta on Ubuntu 24.04 using the instructions:
here
but when I use

flatpak install flathub org.siril.Siril

my system says “Skipping: org.siril.Siril/x86_64/stable is already installed”

using
flatpak remote-info --log flathub org.siril.Siril
shows that ver 1.4.0-beta1 is available:

Siril - Astronomical image processor

        ID: org.siril.Siril
       Ref: app/org.siril.Siril/x86_64/stable
      Arch: x86_64
    Branch: stable
   Version: 1.4.0-beta1
   License: GPL-3.0+
Collection: org.flathub.Stable
  Download: 63.3 MB
 Installed: 155.8 MB
   Runtime: org.gnome.Platform/x86_64/48
       Sdk: org.gnome.Sdk/x86_64/48

Am I doing something wrong - generally flatpak works without problems?
Thanks

This version is pretty new. If you’re on the beta channel for the flatpak, I don’t think you’ll get the stable release.

if you are using ubuntu, you should be using apt instead: Installation on GNU/Linux — Siril 1.4.0-beta1 documentation

Well. PPA are not updated yet :).

Just tried to install Siril flatpak with no issue at all.
So probably the error is on your end.

Can you share what command you used?
As I mentioned, if I use the
flatpak install flathub org.siril.Siril
it fails to install…
Maybe I need to uninstall version 1.2.6?

I tried that first, but it just installed 1.2.6 - and notified about the update being available from siril.org. Going back to the start again…

flatpak install org.siril.Siril
flatpak run org.siril.Siril

OK, thanks - this still just downloaded version 1.2.6, so I completely uninstalled org.siril.Siril and then reinstalled and version 1.4.0-beta installed!
The reinstallation was a lot bigger and added 5 other packages:

So in my case a full uninstall is required before updating.
Thanks all for help - I’m just starting out with siril and finding it very capable (even with just a DSLR and equatorial mount - no scope)
