I installed Raw Therapee 5.8 on Windows 10 some time ago, to try it out against other RAW editors. Just before I have to actually use it, 5.9 came out. I just installed this, and ended up with two installations.
Is there any way to just update the program, retaining all the things like tags for images, or do you have to import data to the new version?
It’s the first RAW editor I’ve used, so please forgive my ignorance
Just uninstall the old version in the regular Windows Control Panel before updating to a new version. RT will keep all settings and edits in its AppData folder and in the Sidecars (.pp3 files). This stuff wont be deleted when uninstalling, and the new version will continue using it.
I think you will be fine with just uninstalling 5.8 from the control panel in your case.

Thank you.
That’s exactly what I have done, but I couldn’t see if settings and data has been retained, because I haven put any images in it yet.
That’s odd, I admit, but I wanted to keep the installation fresh for an upcoming project
If I can do the same again when the next update rolls in that will be fine.
Thanks again…

You don’t import the images to RT. RT is just using a folder structure … not a database

Thank you.
I also need to tag images and want to stick with open source software. So I’m going to have to think about this one some more.
