Although I’ve read some docs and forum posts, it is still not clear to me. I would like to know on which siril operations is recommended to run the set32bits commands before. I read that for calibrating and registering set16bits is enough and for master stacking set32bits is recommended. Is that the way to go?
Hello, I am not an expert but I think it is because for calibration and registration you do not need to have the 32-bit color depth that you then want to accumulate in the master stacking, since there you want to obtain as much information as possible.
On the other hand, 16-bit operations require “half” the time than 32-bit operations.
Hello, I’d say it depends on the number of images you process. Calibration is already a division so can benefit from using 32 bits, but if you have 10 images, you will probably not see a difference. If enabled on calibration, images will have to stay 32 bit for all processing, which doubles the disk space requirements.
Stacking takes place in 32 bits but the result is downsized to 16 if 16 bits mode is enabled, it’s a single image so it’s worth enabling it there at least.
