Using embedded JPEG

Watching Darktable Episode 61: How to work “effectively” with darktable - YouTube I saw that Boris s7habo kept referring to an image of the embedded JPEG as he did his edit on the raw file. How did he do that?

You can be sure that it is unedited and then the default in DT will be to show the embedded jpg in LT view or you can extract them with exiftool or several other software utilities and then sometimes people take a snapshot and work with that in a sort of compare mode…
