Using the M1 optimized Starnet 2 instead of the generic sped the process up about 5 times for me. Pretty straightforward getting it to work, I posted how I did it here.

I did the gpu cuda (or whatever its called) install on my pc and my speed increased by over 10x for starxterminator. Well worth doing. And I am not a pc expert by any stretch of the imagination. I havent timed the increase with starnet but I expect it is similar.
