In the Krita Raw Importer I see a demosaicing algorithm that I have not heard of so far: VCD.
What is this? What is it good for? In as simple words and as short as possible, please.
Is it sharp? Is it soft? Is it slow? Is it fast?
What is more: I also see a dual demosaicing algorithm VCD + AHD.

It’s been around for a while.
I can recall. Not bad for adoption: 2 years after the paper’s release.
