VERY low light imaging sensor - interesting

Just came across this - I wish it said what ISO it’s equivalent to, but it must be very high!

I was teaching photography skills to Antarctic and marine scientists once and they told me about an underwater camera with ISO rating of 15 million. BTW, I really look forward to new and improved sensors in the future with crazy ISO and low noise that will facilitate hand-held night photography of the sky and moonlight landscapes. I don’t feel this is unrealistic considering what we are seeing produced already.

The 3.2-megapixel SPAD sensor has 2.1 effective megapixels, enabling full-color Full HD imaging.

I’m not particularly Mpx hungry but I’d like at least 4K (8mpx) still resolution to adopt this technology !

In other interesting low light technologies :
I’ve read a few years ago also about panaconic patent for interferometry style replacement for bayer layer (with near 100% light transmission) but never saw it yet hit the market !
