I was browsing my photo collection and came across some macro try outs from last summer. At the time I thought that I didn’t get any good photos but now I decided to try to edit some photos and this one turned out quite nice I think.
I’m trying out macro photography with bunch of reverse rings and adapted vintage lenses. This photo was taken with Canon FD 35-105mm F3.5 which would make quite good macro lens, magnification goes up to about 1.9:1, but it’s not very sharp. To be honest, it’s not the sharpest lens right way round either. But in studio like environment I got decent image quality out of it, so my technique might be at blame too. Shooting macro is surprisingly difficult.
I really like the colors and overall processing!
The depth of field is bit “frustrating” though. The parts that my eyes naturally landed on and wandered across were out of focus and it was a bit uncomfortable. Now that I know where to look, it’s fine.
it kind of looks like a zombie hand coming at you, which makes the name feel very fitting. I like the colors a lot here, and I think the out of focus areas push us more towards our imaginations, which I like.
I feel something like this too, and I think that’s why this photo was also rejected at first. For me the colors and texture sold this photo and even though the focus is bit off, it kinda enhances the feel of texture.
That didn’t occur to me at all but now I can’t unsee it
