What Gordon Parks Saw

I follow a nice fella on YT, Nerdwriter. He’s got a video from around a year ago about a ridiculously talented Gordon Parks - in particular about his work in photojournalism (Farm Security Administration, Life magazine, and many others).

In fact, one of my favorite photos of his was taken right here where I live in Mobile Alabama:

His body of work is great and very much worth hunting down and taking a look through.

I read that name and thought of the director of the original 1971 Shaft. Turns out to be the same guy. Multitalented, for sure.

Man his photography is powerful!

He was a very talented man. I was lucky enough to hear him speak at a Q & A session after a showing of his film “Leadbelly” back in the mid-70s.

Saw this a few months ago. So good. Parks has always been one of my favorites.
