What is the default functionality assigned to Ctrl+t

I just came to press Ctrl+t in my standard darktable installation (5.0.1), Mint 22.1. Both in lighttable and darkroom this key combination makes a small field for entering text appear in the central area just above the bottom panel.
I have never come across this before and have no clue what this is.

I can’t find Ctrl+t in the hotkey list under the ‘h’ key. Since it apparently has something to do with text, I wondered if ‘t’ was for tagging, which I don’t use – but can’t see any reference to the key combination in the tagging help documentation (v. 4.6). Search in release notes for v. 4.8 and 5.0 gave no result.

Can anybody explain to me what this is?

I am wondering was that maybe the toggle for tool tips off and on…

I fixed your title to do something useful and not offensive. the useful part is why the rule exist.

Found this.

https://darktable-org.github.io/dtdocs/en/module-reference/utility-modules/shared/tagging/#attach-tag

You can see the shortcut in settings->Utility Modules → tagging. “ctr-t” is the tagging shortcut.

@priort The tool tip toggle is shift-t…found that out by accident lol

Ha I should know not to reply when on my phone…I usually try to check before responding but I was having a coffee and going from memory…and wrongly so…

Dont feel bad. I double-check and still wind up wrong on a regular basis!

Thanks guys, – then I was on the right track, at least, with “tagging”.

My search for "trl+t"in the documentation gave no result because separate between capitals and small letters was surprisingly on, and apparently my eyes stood in the way when I was looking at the h-list … :pensive:

Sorry for the noise …
