I’m looking for a colour-managed application for controlling an Epson flatbed scanner on Debian 13. I’m able to scan using GNOME Document Scanner but it’s only really designed for scanning documents, rather than artwork and gives very limited control.
I’m familiar with Vuescan on Windows, and it looks like it’s available as a .deb but doesn’t appear to be open source (am I right about that?).
What is everyone else using?
I’d much prefer a GUI front end but am comfortable with the command line.
I use the Epson Scan 2 software for mine, but it’s an all-in-one device (ET-8550), not a dedicated flatbed scanner. It works fine for my needs, which are admittedly pretty basic. I’ve used it primarily for old family photos; these are either monochrome or faded color prints. Color is accurate enough for me, but your use case sounds a bit more demanding than mine.
I used IScan… until I discovered that my Epson scanner (V200 Photo) suffers form transverse distortion, which seems usual for such scanners, so now I use my camera.
