Hey all,
The KDE community is working to improve support for input devices as part of the KDE Goals initiative. Do you have cool hardware devices that you use in your editing or image processing workflow, such as a macropad, advanced mouse, tablet, or any other nifty equipment?

Behringer X-touch mini MIDI controller - USB connected, used for darktable - works well, but not without some deficiencies.
Logitech MX-Ergo trackball - USB nano wireless receiver, used for daktable (and occasionally GIMP). Native support of all the buttons would be nice.

My wish would be for Desktop Environment level customization support that is then transparent to all applications. One possibility would be using the additional buttons as Shift/Ctrl/Alt modified keys, convenient when using the wheel, for example.
Again, it might be nice to be able to map the buttons to ‘D’ and ‘L’ which in darktable would switch between the lighttable and the darkroom

Lenovo Legion 9 , I run Fedora 40, I use it for database consulting (PostgreSQL) and processing images with DarkTable and GIMP
Im not sure if you just mean the editing focused peripherals, ive occasionally looked at them, but theyve never seemed insert $xxx price here , i just use a good mechanical keyboard, $15 razr wired mouse, and a handful of keyboard shortcuts in Rawtherapee (for organizing/raw editing), and Gimp (crop/resize/softproof/export).
The actual work gets done by something every editor had on their christmas list in 2014
HP Z440, Xeon E5-2698v3, 4 channel 128GB ecc 2366mhz DDR4, 2x gen 3 nvme drives on single pci cards (one boot, one image storage), 1080ti. And 2x (from 2007!) IPS-H HP lp2475w monitors.
Eventually i’ll grab a z6 g4 with 2x 2nd gen scaleable xeons, so i can use optane dimms as storage for images i’m editing, but with those old xeons work significantly better with editing, now that most code has caught up to high core count architecture, i have zero complaints regarding performance. I still have some headroom, theres a few v4 processors for under $100 i could clip in and get 20% (or more) single thread improvement, and they can run slightly faster ram, but im already cutting through 73mb .nef files from a d810 like a knife through butter, may as well save my powder for a big time jump in performance in a year or so
