My Macbook is from 2014 and the operating system seems to be maxed out at 12.7.6. I am unable to download anything newer than that at the moment. Which version of darktable should I run and where do I find it?

Probably something from @MStraeten like current OSX Build - #781 by MStraeten but that is a Dev version.
but there’s also: darktable 4.8.1 for older macOS versions (10.14 & 11.0)

My mac seems to be unwilling to run either version
You can’t open the application “darktable” because this application is not supported on this Mac.
Any suggestions? Thanks again!
Switch to linux. 
Which macOS version? X86_64 or arm64
