Hello,
I don’t really know much about darktable, but whenever I import an image, the white balance is off. This effect disappears when I export the image and view it in another program, this confuses me a lot. How can I disable this?
Thanks in advance!
Maybe your display does not have a proper profile set up; many viewers are not colour managed and just ignore the profile, but darktable uses it.
What operating system, what version of darktable?
If you can’t get a proper colour profile for the display, maybe you can force darktable to use sRGB as the display profile (not optimal, but may be closer to your viewers):
right click on the highlighted icon (the panel should be at bottom, towards the right):
One test you can do to check if it’s something darktable does:- open any jpg in your viewer and in darktable. Since darktable does not apply any automatic processing to jpg images (unlike to raw, which need to be demosaicekd, white-balanced etc.), if there is a difference between the viewer and darktable, it will be due to colour management. You can check that by exporting the image from darktable without modifying it – if it still looks the same, you can be 100% sure it’s a colour management issue.
Otherwise, you can post a problematic image, so the community can check it in their viewers and their darktable setups.
We will know more one you report back (operating system and version, darktable version, maybe colour management settings like display profile, if you can provide them).
